Power Boat Courses
Only available to members - We are trying to offer our members something more than just standard training courses, we do have these organised of course but you may just want to see what it's about or refresh your knowledge, so we have experiences, more on this later.
If you want to register your interest for these then send an email to courses@bwyc.co.uk Stating your level of competence and what you would like to do, we will put you on the waiting list. Even if you don't think it's available its worth asking, if there is enough of you we will try to organise it, just don't ask for things like Pirate or Viking training!
Dinghy -. We are arranging the provision of these courses and they will be to RYA level 1,2,3,4 and will start next year. If you don't want a formal course then look at experiences below.
Yacht - We have arranged an RYA trainer with a yacht to provide courses for members. These are Competent crew, DaySkipper and Yachtmaster. The cost will depend on the number of people and the number of days. If you don't want a formal course then look at experiences below
Canoe, Jetski, Kayak, Winsurfing,Kite surfing etc. - Nothing arranged as yet but if you are an instructor in any of these or more then please contact us.
Powerboat - We have arranged a Powerboat level 2 course for members. It is a two day course and the cost is £195 for one person and £215 for two. This good value as the course usually cost over £300 elsewhere. A PB2 allows you to apply for an International Certificate of Competence.
Shorebased - We run shore based courses when there is sufficient demand, Members are emailed with an available list and when there is sufficient a course is organised. Courses include First aid at sea, correct clothing, Jetski Do's & Don'ts, RNLI and we hope to add the full range of RYA courses.
Experiences - Sometimes formal training is not required, you may want to know what it's like to sail in a dinghy or a yacht, refresh a few skills, or learn some basics. You will have the opportunity to go with other club members and experience the fun. It's not formal training, you won't get a certificate but you will pick up some skills and you may find that you learn as much as you need to know. This is also required for anyone who wants to borrow a dinghy who cannot otherwise prove competency.
